About the Course

A Practical Diploma Built for Real Work.

The Hello Fit Sports Massage Diploma was designed with one goal: to produce graduates who can actually do the job from day one. We know that too many courses focus on weeks of theory with little connection to real practice. This is not that course.

The diploma is delivered by Rich Mitchell and David Byrne, both working professionals in the fitness and wellbeing industry. Every session is practical, hands-on and grounded in what you will actually encounter working with clients.

Delivered in a Real Gym

Practical sessions are held inside Hello Fit's award-winning gym in Lytham St Annes. You train in the same environment your future clients will use.

Fortnightly to Fit Your Life

Sessions run every other week over ten weeks so you can study around your existing job or family commitments without having to put your life on hold.

Qualified and Insured Immediately

On completion you receive a nationally recognised Level 3 diploma and are guaranteed professional insurance from the day you finish. Professional insurance starts from approximately ÂŁ50 per year.

First Aid Certificate Required

Students completing this diploma are required to hold an Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate. This is widely available as a one-day course and very useful in any health or fitness setting.

Course Content

What You Will Learn

The diploma covers everything you need to work confidently as a sports massage therapist, from theory foundations through to client-ready practical skills.

Anatomy & Physiology

A thorough grounding in the musculoskeletal system: muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints and how they work together. The essential foundation for effective massage practice.

Massage Techniques

Hands-on training in effleurage, petrissage, tapotement, frictions and soft tissue release. You will practise each technique until it is second nature before moving on.

Sports Injury Assessment

How to assess a client’s condition, identify common sports injuries, contraindications and when to refer. Practical screening and postural assessment covered throughout.

Client Consultation

How to take a client history, complete a PAR-Q, set treatment goals and document your sessions professionally. Client communication and consent procedures included.

Pre & Post Event Massage

Techniques and protocols specific to sports events: warm-up massage to enhance performance, and cool-down massage to support recovery. Highly practical and immediately applicable.

Business and Practice Setup

How to set up as a self-employed sports massage therapist: insurance, record keeping, pricing, marketing and finding your first clients. Everything you need to start earning immediately.

Your Tutors

Taught By Working Professionals

Rich and David are not lecturers. They are active fitness and massage professionals who still work with clients. Their courses are built around what actually works in practice.

Co-Founder, Hello Fit

Rich Mitchell

“We wanted to make sure that our sports massage courses were suitable for practical people: people who want hands-on experience which will actually equip them to do the job by the end of the course, not just weeks of theory which doesn’t bear any relationship to real life and what many educational providers offer.”

Sports Massage Specialist

David Byrne

“So with this in mind we have worked on it and created something special to achieve those objectives. This is a course designed to produce therapists who are ready to work from the day they complete it, not graduates who need another year of experience before they feel confident.”
