So here it is, Richie’s Chicken Gumbo recipe – just pop it all in a slow cooker, cook some rice and your meal prep is sorted! These will keep in the fridge for 3 days and in the freezer for much longer.

This is SO tasty! I came home to the house smelling incredible and a little note next to the slow cooker saying, ‘turn off at 7pm’. Oh I can’t tell you how excited I was for 7pm to finally get a taste of this amazing smelling dish!

We omitted the onions and garlic because I have intolerances to certain foods but it certainly wasn’t lacking in any flavour due to this.

  • Add everything to slow cooker and stir to combine
  • Cook on low for 6 hours
  • Serve your chicken gumbo over rice

Easy! So, so easy!

If you’re going to serve and eat this amazing chicken gumbo straight away rather than making it as meal prep, add shrimp – 3-5 minutes before serving, stir fresh/thawed shrimp though the pot. Simple.
